Karneval in Köln

Jetzt ist es schon Anfang April, der Frühling kommt raus und ich habe noch nicht über unseren Ausflug nach Köln zum Karneval geschrieben. Das möchte ich hiermit nach holen.

Karneval? Was habe ich mit Karneval zu tun? Und was hat das Thema Karneval mit meinem Blog zu tun? Berechtigte Fragen! Ist Karneval nicht nur ein „Sauf – und Fressfest“? Ein Fest, bei dem man mal so richtig „die Sau raus lassen kann“?  Die Bilder in den Nachrichten sind manchmal abschreckend genug. Oft kommt auch der Einwand, dass man nicht Knopfdruck lustig sein kann. Dann auch noch das alberne Verkleiden, die langweiligen Sitzungen und der Rosenmontagsumzug, alles so kommerziell und unnötig. Viele Berliner können nichts damit anfangen.

An dieser Stelle muss ich euch etwas gestehen. Ich lebe zwar schon seit 30 Jahren in Berlin, verstehe mich aber nicht als Berlinerin. Ursprünglich komme ich von Niederrhein und da wird kräftig Karneval gefeiert. Als Kind habe ich Karneval geliebt. Wochen vor dem eigentlichen Event wurde schon überlegt wie das Kostüm aussehen wird und geträumt als was man gehen will. Traum aller Mädchen waren Prinzessin und Funkenmariechen . Ich habe mich genauso gerne als Indianer oder Cowboy  und später als Punk verkleidet. Für drei Tage in eine andere Rolle schlüpfen, sich schminken und schön finden. Die Aufregung und Begeisterung rund um das Verkleiden, das war schon großartig.

Mein Vater war drei Jahre lang Mitglied in der Prinzengarde und somit involviert in alle Vorbereitungen für den großen Rosenmontagszug. Ich kann mich noch gut daran erinnern, wie beeindruckend groß die Halle und auch der Umzugswagen, der in der Halle gebaut wurde, war. Gelegentlich durfte ich in Begleitung meines Vaters diese Halle betreten. Hier wurde Tag und Nacht gearbeitet, es roch nach Holz und Farbe und alle Mitwirkenden fieberten dem großen Tag entgegen. Die Atmosphäre werde ich nie vergessen.

Irgendwann kamen die ersten negativen Erfahrungen mit dem Karneval und ich war für immer bedient – nie wieder Karneval! Zum Glück gibt es den in Berlin nicht.

Aus verschiedenen Gründen wurde im letzten Jahr die Idee geboren zum Karneval nach Köln zu fahren. Zunächst war ich überhaupt nicht angetan. „Karneval in Köln? – Kannst du gerne machen, aber ohne mich!“ Als meine liebe Freundin, die zufällig in Köln wohnt, meinte: „Claudia, das musst du mal erlebt haben! Komm mal, wir werden viel Spaß haben!“ , war die Fahrkarte so gut wie gebucht.

Vielleicht habe ich so etwas wie ein „Karnevalsgen“  – bei mir hat es „klick“ gemacht und ich spürte wieder diese Vorfreude und das Kribbeln, je näher Karneval gerückt ist.

Erste wichtige Frage : „Als was gehe ich? Welches Kostüm trage ich?“ Mein Freund und ich brauchten nur einen kurzen Moment, ein Mini – Brainstorming und mein Kostüm stand fest. Ich wollte als Lady Gaga  gehen, ganz klar!
Lady Gaga hat im November letzten Jahres bekannt gegeben, dass sie an Fibromyalgie erkrankt ist. Anfang diesen Jahres musste sie aufgrund der massiven Schmerzen ihre Tournee absagen. Ein solches „Coming out“ von einem Promi hat es bisher noch nicht gegeben und ich denke es ist für alle Menschen mit Fibromyalgie von großer Bedeutung, wenn so etwas geschieht. Ich war nie Fan von Lady Gaga und konnte mit ihrer Musik bisher nichts anfangen, aber ihren Mut sich zu outen finde ich großartig . Auch brauche ich wenig Empathie, um mir vorstellen zu können, was dieser Schritt für sie und ihre Karriere bedeutet. Es gibt einen Dokumentarfilm „Five foot too“ auf Netflix über Lady Gaga, der sehr eindrücklich zeigt, mit wieviel Leidenschaft und Disziplin sie einen Bühnenauftritt vorbereitet. Sie ist eine extrem gute Tänzerin und Sängerin, die eine massiven Einschnitt in ihrem Leben durch die Fibromyalgie erfährt.

Mich als Lady Gaga zu verkleiden ist auch als ein Dankeschön an sie zu verstehen! Nachdem ich mir etliche Fotos von ihr auf Instagram angeschaut habe, ist dieses Outfit dabei heraus gekommen:

Mit dem Kostüm im Gepäck kamen wir Freitag, den 9. Februar in Köln an und schon auf dem Weg zu meiner Freundin kamen uns die ersten „ Jecken“ entgegen.

Mich hat die schöne Stimmung in der Stadt sofort mitgerissen. Es ist kaum zu beschreiben und für jemanden, der das nicht kennt wahrscheinlich schwer zu verstehen.

Alle, oder sagen wir mal fast alle, Menschen teilen die Freude am Verkleiden. Viele sind in unglaublich schönen kreativen Kostümen unterwegs. Und alle sind ausgelassen, fröhlich und freundlich. Es herrscht ein Ausnahmezustand in der ganzen Stadt, der alle, von jung bis alt, in Begeisterung versetzt. So etwas habe ich bisher noch nie erlebt.

Ein besonderes Highlight waren die sogenannten „Schull – und Veedelszöch“ am Sonntag. Ich habe nur einen kleinen Ausschnitt davon in der Kölner Südstadt gesehen, aber mich hat die Vielzahl der Teilnehmer schier überwältigt. Ganze Schulklassen sind vertreten und machen in wunderschönen aufwendigen Kostümen Musik. Bunt, kreativ, lebendig und super engagiert ziehen Gruppen mit Schülern jeden Alters durch die Stadt. Trotz Regen hat mich das sehr fasziniert und glücklich gemacht, denn das kannte ich noch nicht.

Das allerbeste waren allerdings unsere Besuche in den Kneipen. Jede  Kneipe, in die wir versucht haben, hinein zu kommen, war brechend voll und die Stimmung war bombig. Viele Leute sind richtig toll verkleidet und darüber kommt man automatisch ins Gespräch. Die Musik ist super, was mir gar nicht bewusst war. Es werden nämlich nicht die typischen Karnevalslieder gespielt, wie ich das noch aus meiner Jugend in Erinnerung habe, sondern ausgesprochen moderner und tolle Karnevalsmusik, wie zum Beispiel die  von der Band Kasalla. Alle singen mit und die Stimmung  ist einfach unbeschreiblich.

Drei Tage und Nächte Karneval und ich bin großer Fan von Kasalla und vom Karneval 🙂
